THE PROBLEM

PROHIBITED.
HIPAA requires a business associate agreement before patient information reaches a vendor, and the consumer AI tools do not sign one: not consumer ChatGPT, not consumer Claude, not the Gemini app. A chart pasted into a free chatbot is PHI on a vendor's servers with no BAA behind it.

SHADOW USE.
It is already happening. In Elsevier's 2025 survey of 2,206 clinicians, 48 percent had used AI for work, and 97 percent of those used a general tool such as ChatGPT. Policy does not stop it. A sanctioned tool on your own network does.

ENFORCEMENT.
In February 2026 an Illinois treatment provider paid OCR $103,000 after a phishing attack reached 1,980 patients' records; the cited failure was a missing risk analysis. It was the eleventh action in OCR's Risk Analysis Initiative.
TWO SCENARIOS
Tuesday, 9:40 PM.
Clinic ended at five. The last two notes are still open on the kitchen table, where charting goes after the staff go home. It is ordinary: in the AMA’s 2025 survey, 22.5 percent of physicians spend more than eight hours a week in the EHR outside working hours, and the number went up, not down.
With a Node in the office and the speech cartridge loaded, the visit recording becomes a draft note before the last patient reaches the parking lot. The recording and the chart stay on a machine the practice owns; the doctor edits, signs, and goes home. No vendor ever holds the recording.
Wednesday, 2:15 PM.
A prior authorization comes back denied, the fourth this week. The AMA’s 2025 survey prices the game: 40 prior authorizations per physician per week, 13 staff hours spent completing them, and 40 percent of practices with someone working on nothing else. The machine reads the denial and the chart excerpt and drafts the appeal letter while the front desk answers the phone.
In the AMA’s 2026 survey, 71 percent of physicians worry about patient privacy with AI tools their practice does not own; with tools it owns, 42. A Node is the tool the practice owns.
THE NODE
A sealed machine on your own network, configured and maintained by Splay inside your practice. Staff use it to draft visit notes from recordings, letters, and summaries, write the small tools nobody budgets for, and search every policy, chart, and record you could never upload.
It needs no cloud account and no internet connection, and nobody pays per seat. We maintain the machine without ever holding your files. The whole setup is written down, step by step; any competent IT shop could run it without us.

THE MACHINES
Five machines and a bespoke build, priced flat and in public. Each one is sealed: no path out to the internet, serving your staff over your own network, with the strongest open model that fits its memory. The drawings are illustrations; the hardware is listed on each card.
The ladder is one design at five sizes, and the small machines grow into the big ones: a second Spark and one cable turn a NODE 01 into a NODE 02, and two more turn it into a NODE 03. Nothing is replaced and nothing is migrated; the machine you bought becomes part of the machine you upgrade to, and what you paid counts in full against the price. Past the Sparks, the bigger machines share the same network and the same work, and upgrades into them are credited by quote. NODE 03 itself runs two ways: linked into one machine carrying GLM-5.2 for a small team that wants the strongest model, or split into four Sparks serving up to sixty staff on the smaller models.
NODE 03 and NODE 04 differ on speed, not intelligence. The Sparks are a highway with many lanes and a low speed limit: they carry a whole office, unhurried. The Blackwell machines are a race track with one lane and no limit: a Spark moves memory at 273 gigabytes a second, and each of NODE 04's four cards moves it at 1,792. NODE 04 runs GLM-5.2 too when you want the strongest model; its card names MiniMax-M3 because that pairing feels instant. If your staff sit waiting on answers, the wait is what NODE 04 removes.

QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Does it connect to our EHR?
No. Staff work with exports, scans, and recordings; there is no integration project and no vendor connection into your EHR. If you want AI living inside the EHR itself, that is a different product. A Node does everything around it: the notes, letters, appeals, summaries, and searches that eat the day.
Is this an ambient scribe?
With the speech cartridge loaded it drafts a visit note from a recording, and the recording never leaves the machine. The dedicated scribe services are more polished at that single job; the Node does it inside your walls, along with everything else on this page, for a flat price.
Does it make us HIPAA compliant?
No, and no machine does. What changes: this work stops leaving the building, so there is no new vendor holding PHI and no new business associate agreement behind it. The clean room engagement includes a documentation pack for your risk analysis.
What about the new HIPAA security rules?
HHS proposed a stricter Security Rule in January 2025: mandatory risk analysis, encryption, MFA, asset inventories. It is not final. The rules in force today already require a risk analysis, and the recent OCR settlements cite exactly that. A Node is a short line in that paperwork: the AI your staff use runs inside the practice, and nothing leaves.
Can it actually write software?
Yes. Staff describe a tool in plain English and the machine writes the code; small tools and scripts come back in minutes and run on your own network. It is not a replacement for your software vendor on big systems: it is closer to a very fast junior developer. The pilot exists so you can test it on your own problems.
Who runs it after the install?
Your IT does, with our manual. Every machine is a copy of one documented setup. If you would rather we watch it, managed care starts at $600 a month and year one is included with every machine.
What happens if Splay disappears?
You own the machine outright, and the whole setup is written down, step by step. Any competent IT shop could run it without us.
Can we try it before we buy it?
A pilot machine sits on your bench for 30 days for $2,000, credited in full against any machine. So is the $2,400 readiness survey.
What does it cost to add a seat?
$0. The machine is the cost. NODE 01 serves 1 to 15 staff; when you outgrow a machine you buy the next machine, not the next license.
How many people can use it at once?
Everyone gets their own chat over your network; nobody shares a screen. What limits a machine is how many answers it is writing at the same instant. NODE 01 is bench-measured at ten simultaneous conversations, and an office of fifteen rarely has five going at once. The bigger machines carry more, and we size each person's working room at install so the machine stays quick. The serves range on each card is that sizing, done conservatively.
What happens when we outgrow it?
You grow the machine. The Spark machines join by one network cable: a second Spark turns a NODE 01 into a NODE 02, four make a NODE 03, and what you paid is credited in full against the upgrade. Upgrades into the bigger machines are credited by quote. No machine on the ladder is a dead end.
Do you see our data?
No. The machine has no path out to the internet, and your files stay in your building. Custom models are tuned and tested on your hardware, and support visits happen on-site, at the rate on the card.
Why are your prices public?
Because a buyer who checks must find every figure where we said it would be. The intelligence numbers come from a public index with the raw scores printed in the footnote, and every price carries its edition date: July 22, 2026.
